Born in 1974 to a family of musicians, Saskia Lethiec had the opportunity to meet great artists, such as Miklos Perenyi, Arto Noras, Leonard Rose, Jean-Claude Pennetier, and Mieczyslaw Horszowski, when they performed concerts with her parents. At a very young age, she inherited the desire to devote herself to the art and study of the violin.
At the age of thirteen, she received her first award from the Conservatoire National de Région in Nice and that same year appeared as a soloist in Venezuela with the Simon Bolivar Orchestra.
Saskia Lethiec was then accepted into Jean-Pierre Wallez’s class at the Conservatory in Geneva. There she went on to receive, at seventeen years old, first honors with distinction and went on to play Lalo’s Spanish symphony with the Suisse Romande Orchestra in Victoria Hall. She was then awarded a grant from the Eastern Music Festival of North Carolina and received the first prize in the concerto competition.
Along with her advanced studies, Saskia Lethiec began to perform regularly as a duo with her sister Karine in France and abroad.
After being accepted into advanced courses taught by Alain Meunier, Gérard Poulet and Christian Ivaldi at the CNSM in Paris, Saskia Lethiec was awarded several international prizes (including the Vierzon, Ferras-Barbizet and Bucarest) which led to opportunities such as playing several times for France Musiques and participating in various festivals in France and abroad. She received a grant from the Ravinia Festival of Chicago where she appeared as a soloist in their chamber music concerts. While in Chicago, she took Masters classes under Miriam Fried, Claude Franck and David Geringas.
In order to perfect her skills, she traveled to Germany and England to study under Zacker Bron, Mihaela Martin (of Hochschule in Lübeck and in Cologne, Konzertexam) and Maurice Hasson.
In 2002 she became more active in quartet performances, as a sonata, and joined the Calliopée Ensemble. The following year, she founded the Hoboken Trio.
Saskia Lethiec has performed in festivals in Colmar, Dinard, Sceaux, Scheffield and Amatis as well as in renowned venues such as the Champs-Elysées, Salle Cortot and Concertgebauw in Amsterdam.
She earned her CA from the CNSM in Paris and is a professor at the CNR in Versailles.
She is also the co-director of the Festival Musique d' un siècle (Dieulefit) .
