Album dedicated to Kreuzer

In honor of the release of her c.d. of Kreutzer recordings, which includes pieces never recorded before, Saskia Lethiec will perform three concerts in which she interprets the works of this composer and violinist who has come to embody the spirit of the modern school of violinists and whose influence can still be heard in contemporary compositions.

As a professor at the Paris Conservatory since its beginnings in the early 19th century Rodolphe Kreutzer, along with Rode and Baillot, founded the French school of violinists, whose influence eventually spread throughout Europe. This virtuoso is characterized by both his brilliance and elegance and influenced many celebrated composers of his time, particularly Beethoven. Kreutzer wrote a considerable amount of pieces intended for his solo concerts and for his students. Unfortunately, history has largely forgotten them, with the exception of 42 Etudes and his early solo concert pieces.

The recordings chosen for this disc, both the 9th Concerto in E minor and the 13th Concerto in D major, performed with a fresh style and variations, present the composer in a different light.

Saskia Lethiec inventively incorporates these passionate works with a more traditional repertoire all in one concert with the goal of emphasizing this definitive and pivotal epoch in the history of recitals and compositions for soloists.
